The boards

Two formats. Any wall you have.

Borderless: the fabric wraps the face and the edges, so nothing frames the front. A gatorboard core on a solid wood internal frame, 1 1/4 in thick overall and about 15 lb for a full 4 × 8 ft board.

At a glance

Borderless

Fabric wraps the face and the edges. No frame, no trim, nothing on the front.

Overall thickness, and the weight of a full 4 × 8 ft board.

Standard face colours. Other colours possible on request.

Cleat included

Two cleats and one rail come with every board.

Formats

Two modules, hung three ways.

A 4 × 8 ft board hangs either way round, which is what lets the same product make a low wide review wall or a tall bay beside a doorway.

Construction

What the board is made of.

  • Borderless fabric face

The fabric wraps the face and the edges, so there is no frame or trim on the front. Boards sit edge to edge and read as one continuous surface.

  • Commercial-grade fabric

A high-durability fabric made for commercial and severe-duty use, water, soil and mildew resistant. Work goes up with pins — no tape, no adhesive, nothing left on the wall behind.

  • Gatorboard core on a wood frame

A 1/2 in high-density foam core keeps a full 4 × 8 ft panel flat and stiff at about 15 lb, with a solid wood internal frame and hardboard back carrying it from behind. 1 1/4 in overall.

  • French cleat mounting

Two cleats on the back of the board and one wall rail come with every panel. The rail goes up once; the board lifts off and re-spaces along it.

Boards are made for paper. Heavy material samples — stone, tile, thick timber or metal — should not hang from a pin on any fabric board; those need a shelf or a tray.

Mounting

One rail, then it moves.

Every board ships with two cleats, fitted to the back of the frame, and one wall rail. The rail is installed once and levelled; the board drops onto it. Tell us whether you are fixing to drywall, stud or masonry and the fixings are specified with your quote.

After that the board lifts off the rail and re-spaces along it, so a run can be rearranged without drilling again. Moving a board to a different wall means installing a rail there.

Boards can be set edge to edge so a run of panels reads as one continuous surface.

Capacity

How much fits on a board.

Useful when you are deciding whether one board is enough, or whether the work needs the whole wall.

Sheet counts are calculated from paper dimensions, allowing 1 in between sheets and 2 in clear at each board edge. They are planning figures for laying out a wall. A 4 × 8 ft board hung vertically takes 27 US Letter or 30 A4 sheets, because A4 is the shorter sheet.

Board dimensions are the panels. Surface dimensions are those panels butted together. If you want a reveal between panels, add it to the overall surface width and height. Sheet counts are calculated from paper dimensions, allowing 1 in between sheets and 2 in clear at each board edge. They are planning figures for laying out a wall.

An installed example

What a run looks like in a room.

Boards in two rows along a corridor wall. The diagrams above give exact layouts; a photograph gives the thing the diagrams cannot — how a run sits in a real room, at real height, against real materials.

Board sizes and overall dimensions are not stated for this installation, because they have not been measured from the drawings. Tell us your wall and we will size a configuration for it.

Why a wall

Alongside the files, not instead of them.

Digital tools do things a wall cannot: version history, remote access, distribution, search. Any studio running a project needs them.

What a wall adds is scale and simultaneity. Forty drawings at once, at the size they were drawn, with six people standing in front of them pointing at the same thing. The comparison everyone needs to make is already made, because it is all in view at the same time.

Work out the wall.

Send your dimensions and what you need to keep visible. You will get a recommended configuration and an itemised quote.
